Final Fantasy Football Results

Live365 Fantasy Football Championship

Choirboys 116
Polarbear Express 71

The Choirboys persevered and overcame last year’s heartbreak to finally win their first Live365 Fantasy Football championship. They easily defeated the Polarbear Express in convincing fashion. League MVP Chris Johnson (21 carries for 142 yards and 1 TD, 179 total yards.) led all players in scoring with 23 points. In the end, the Express failed to utilize their most important players, Kurt Warner (24-38 for 313 yards and 2 TD’s, 19 points) and Frank Gore (28 carries for 71 yards and 1 TD, 151 total yards, 19 points). The Express will have 6 months to ponder, “what if?”

3rd Place Game

Strange Agents 86
Metal Maniacs 122

The Maniacs recovered from last week’s meltdown to defeat the Strange Agents. Roddy White (8 catches for 139 yards and 2 TD’s) led the charge for the Maniacs with 25 points. Adrian Peterson (24 carries for 94 yards and 2 TD’s, 137 total yards.) led the Agents in the losing effort.

5th Place Game

Smooth Jazz and More 93
Flash 80 68

Smooth’s crew captured the consolation crown as they defeated Flash 80. Philip Rivers (21-27 for 264 yards and 2 TD’s) led all scorers with 18 points. The Giants defense (41 points allowed, -3 points) severely hurt the Flash 80’s chances.

7th Place Game

Fumbles and Stumbles 53
RRN Maulerz 80

Tom Brady (23-26 for 267 yards and 4 TD’s) lit up the scoreboard with 26 points, as the Maulerz destroyed the Fumbles. The Fumbles end the season losing 10 of their last 11 games.

What a season!

We've had excitement and drama all year long. Many people asked to join the league after the fact. That's too bad! We definitely would have added them if Yahoo! would have let us do so.

Next year's Fantasy Football league will start selections in early August. We'll have an official notice before hand. So if you want to participate, link this blog entry and don't forget.

Thanks to all who participated this season. See you next year!

Week 16 - An Interesting Thought!

Someone wrote this scenario in a forum. It sounds eerily similar to what I’m thinking!

I have a crazy thought in my head, I know it's crazy...but it just won't go away.
I say the Giants win out, finishing 10-6.
The Cowboys lose to the Eagles, putting the Giants in the playoffs.
The Giants beat Philly in the same fashion they beat Dallas in '07.
They then go on to end Brett Favre's career a second time, similar to the way they did it in '07.
They then go on to play the undefeated Colts in the Super Bowl.
Imagine Eli and Peyton in the same Super Bowl, the NFL couldn't dream up a better scenario.

I can! And boy...would it ever be nice!

We took a beating against the spread, going under .500 for the week.

Live365 Fantasy Football League Semi-Finals

It was the end of an era, as a champion has been dethroned. For the other, another chance for redemption and a Fantasy Football title!

Championship Semi-Final

Choirboys 101
Strange Agents 97

The Choirboys are going to their second straight championship game, as they defeated the Strange Agents. Tight End Dallas Clark (7 catches for 95 yards and 2 TD’s) led the Choirboys in scoring with 21 points. In all, five players led the team in double figures, including Miles Austin (7 catches for 139 yards and 1 TD, 19 points). Aaron Rogers (26-48 for 383 yards and 4 TD’s [3 passing, 1 rushing]) led the Agents in a losing effort with 36 points.

Polarbear Express 144
Metal Maniacs 81

The Metal Maniacs reign as Live365 fantasy football champions is over. They took a vicious pounding against the Polarbear Express, who had all players in double figures. It was the Express’ highest point total of the season. Maurice Jones-Drew (27 carries for 110 yards, 140 total yards, 2 TD’s [1 rushing, 1 receiving]) led the Express in points with 26.

Consolation Semi-Final

Flash 80 107
RRN Maulerz 64

In the Consolation round, Flash 80 easily took care of the RRN Maulerz. Peyton Manning (23-30 for 308 yards, 4 TD’s and 1 INT, 27 points) and DeSean Jackson (6 catches for 140 yards and 1 TD, 20 points.) led Flash 80 in points. Running backs, Ahmad Bradshaw (90 total yards, 2 TD, 20 points) and Lawrence Maroney (23 carries for 81 yards and 1 TD, 14 points) led the charge for the Maulerz in the loss.

Smooth Jazz and More 90
Fumbles and Stumbles 88

Steve Smith’s TD (10 points) on Monday gave Smooth’s crew a thrilling, come from behind victory against the Fumbles. Philip Rivers (24-38 for 308 yards, 3 TD’s and 2 INT’s) and Vincent Jackson (5 catches for 108 yards and 2 TD’s) both had 22 points in the Smooth’s crew victory. Reggie Wayne (5 catches for 132 yards and 1 TD, 19 points) and Tony Romo (22-34 for 312 yards, 2 TD’s and 1 INT, 18 points) put up some respectable numbers in the loss.

Week 15 - Desperate Time For Some Teams!

I would hate to be a Dallas Cowboys fan right about now! Another December has arrived and the same pattern of losing is there. Head coach Wade Phillips must really feel like crawling under a rock right about now, seeing his team going through another monumental collapse.

Another problem is with the Steelers. A three game losing streak has all but put the defending champion out of the playoff hunt. Their loss against lowly Cleveland was inexcusable.

As for my Giants, it's a good thing we beat those bad teams when we did, otherwise the season would have been over a long time ago. (Read my special entry on the subject!)

We're rolling along with yet another 10 game win week on the head-to-head. With a few weeks left, could a 70 percent rate be in sight?

Hey, Hey! Ho, Ho! Bill Sheridan’s Got To Go!

What kind of football team scores 38 points and loses? Usually, a bad one. But in the case of my New York Giants, last Sunday’s home loss to the Philadelphia “E-girls” was downright embarrassing.

DeShean Jackson’s offensive display all goes back to a lack of a game plan by Giants defensive coordinator, Bill Sheridan (shown above). There should have been no reason for Jackson’s performance on Sunday night. There should have been double or triple coverage on him.

Overall, the defense looked tired and over matched. The front line isn’t being aggressive enough and they’re not blitzing all that often. It’s just mass confusion all over the Giants defense players. There should be adjustments made to prevent the constant 70 to 80 yard scoring drives that teams have been able to do against the Giants this season.

According to the New York Post (That dish rag!), “if the team doesn't make it into the playoffs, Sheridan is very likely to lose his job this off-season.” I say, why wait? It’s obvious that Sheridan can’t coordinate, nor can he communicate with his players!

In the nearly 40 years since I've been a Giants fan, defense has been the foundation of the franchise, going back Sam Huff, Rosie Grier, Lawrence Taylor and Michael Strahan. But, it was the defensive coordinator that made the Giants special.

Many defensive coordinators have come from the "G-men", including Tom Landry, Bill Belechick, John Fox and Steve Spagnuolo. So it's hard to believe that this defensive coordinator cannot carry to torch.

With three games remaining and a wild card berth at stake, the Giants can’t ill afford to be screwing around with someone that doesn’t know what they’re doing.

Coach Coughlin! Fire defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan, NOW! Before it’s too late!

Week 14 Fantasy Football Results

The regular season's over! Four teams have played themselves into the Championship round, while the other four jockey for position in the Consolation round. Who will win the big one is anyone's guess!

Smooth Jazz and More 77
Choirboys 124

The Choirboys finished strong and captured their second straight regular season title by defeating Smooth’s crew. The rout was on, as fantasy MVP candidate, Chris Johnson led all scorers for the Choirboys (186 total yards, [117 rushing, 69 receiving] 3 TD’s [2 rushing, 1 receiving] 35 points.). Despite the loss, Smooth’s crew goes to their first playoff series in two years.

Fumbles and Stumbles 74
Strange Agents 96

Adrian Peterson (137 total yards, 2 TD’s rushing, 25 points) and Thomas Jones (24 carries for 99 yards, 2 TD’s, 21 points) had strong running games, as the Strange Agents make the championship round for the first time. The Fumbles, losers of their last six of seven games, stumble into the consolation round.

Flash 80 111
PVR Wasted Bandwidth 69

Flash 80 finished off strong, as they convincingly defeated the PVR’s and grabbed the top slot in the consolation round. DeSean Jackson had a career day (6 catches for 178 yards, 261 total yards and 2 TD’s, 29 points). Unlike last year, the PVR’s will miss the playoffs this season.

Polarbear Express 93
Yesterdays Rock 83

Andre Johnson had 11 catches for 193 yards and 2 TD’s (31 points), as the Express roll to victory in the season-finale against the YR’s. Reggie Bush led the YR’s in scoring (79 total yards and 2 TD’s, 19 points), as they end up at the bottom of the league standings.

RRN Maulerz 61
Metal Maniacs 114

After starting off 4-4, the Maniacs won sixth-straight to end the season and capture the #2 seed in the championship round. Ryan Grant (20 carries for 137 yards and 2 TD’s, 25 points) and Jamaal Charles (20 carries for 143 yards [181 total yards], 1 TD, 23 points) led the Maniacs in scoring.

Week 14 - Gut-Check Time!

So there I was, at work, driving in a snowstorm, listening to the Giants versus the Cowboys, when I lost the signal. I'm nervous like hell, trying to figure out if they succeeded on a Cowboys fumble recovery. Luckily, they did! Now comes the hard part. The "E-girls" com into town, then it's off to Washington to take on the "Foreskins". The road to the playoffs won't be easy!

Another great week for us, both against the spread and head to head.

Week 13 Fantasy Football Results

One team has been eliminated from playoff contention, another has seen their championship hopes dashed. With one week to go, playoff positioning is starting to heat up!

Polarbear Express 89
Metal Maniacs 94

The Maniacs clinched their second straight playoff birth with a victory over the slumping Express. Drew Brees had another monster day (35-49 for 419 yards, 2 TD’s & 1 INT, 23 points.) on the field. Roddy White (9 catches for 104 yards and 1 TD, 16 points.) and Larry Fitzgerald (8 catches for 143 yards and 1 TD, 20 points.) also contributed to the Maniacs win. A win next week by the Express will solidify a championship playoff spot.

Smooth Jazz and More 74
Strange Agents 98

Aaron Rogers (26-40 for 263 yards, 3 TD’s & 2 INT’s, 23 points.) and Santonio Holmes (8 catches for 149 yards and 1 TD, 20 points) put up big numbers to lead the Strange Agents to another big victory and all but ending Smooth’s Crew chances to make the championship round.

Fumbles and Stumbles 82
PVR Wasted Bandwidth 92

The PVR’s kept their slim playoff chances alive with a thrilling victory over the Fumbles. Anquan Boldin (7 catches for 98 yards and 2 TD’s, 21 points) led PVR in points. Tony Romo (41-55 for 392 yards and 3 TD’s, 27 points.) had a big day in a losing effort. The Fumbles, losers of their last five out of six, continue to struggle.

Flash 80 78
Yesterdays Rock 77

Flash 80 eliminated Yesterdays Rock from playoff contention with a narrow one point victory. Antonio Gates (8 catches for 167 yards, 16 points.) led all scorers for Flash 80. Eli Manning (11-25 for 241 yards, 2 TD’s and 1 INT, 16 points) and Wes Welker (10 catches for 167 yards, 16 points) led “YR’s” in scoring for the losing effort.

Choirboys 83
RRN Maulerz 86

In this week’s upset, the Maulerz, led by Robert Meachem’s 26 points (8 catches for 142 yards and 2 TD’s,), defeated the top ranked Choirboys. The Choirboys suffered from a lack of firepower at quarterback (Carson Palmer’s stats: 17-29 for 220 yards for 1 TD and 2 INT’s, 8 points.). A win over the Maniacs and a PVR loss next week assures the Maulerz of a playoff spot in the Consolation round.

Week 13 - Oh, The Humanity!

Montreal Alouettes kicker Damon Duval kicks a field goal with holder Ben Cahoon against the Saskatchewan Roughriders during the first half of the 97th CFL Grey Cup football game in Calgary. Duval hit the game winner from 33 yards out to lift the Alouettes to a 28-27 win.<br />Shaun Best, Reuters

Many of you probably haven't watched last weekend's CFL Grey Cup. If you didn't, you missed a dandy! Football purists would have loved the sheer intensity of the game.

It had all the makings of a classic.

With no time left and a crowd filled with "green" at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, the Saskatchewan Roughriders had the chance to win the cup when the Montreal Alouettes missed a 37 yard field goal that sailed "wide right" (a la Scott Norwood, Super Bowl 25). But the Riders were caught with too many men of the field.

The redo from 5 yards closer gave the Alouettes all they needed and the field goal capped a 14 point comeback to give Montreal the cup. You gotta feel for the Rider Nation after that one!

Sadly, the rest of Canada was unable to watch this thrilling championship game as it was only available to Cable and Satellite customers. (Bad move, CFL!!)

This week has an unusually large number of Pick 'em games. Pittsburgh is uncertain with their QB situation and Seattle and San Francisco are evenly matched.

Week 12 Fantasy Football Results

With two weeks to go until the playoffs, every game counts!

Choirboys 104
Metal Maniacs 107

In the week’s most exciting match up, the Maniacs narrowly defeated the Choirboys and snapped their league record ten game win-streak. Drew Brees’ 5 TD passes and perfect passer rating (158.3) for 35 points was the big reason for the Maniacs victory. Five players were in double-figures for the Choirboys, but still came up short.

Smooth Jazz and More 79
PVR Wasted Bandwidth 62

Smooth’s crew clinched a .500 season and guaranteed a spot in the Consolation Round with a win against the PVR’s. Philip Rivers scored 20 points (21-28 for 317 yards and 2 TD’s) and the tandem of Ray Rice (155 total yards, 14 points) and Steven Jackson (116 total yards, 1 TD) had strong showings on the ground in the victory.

Fumbles and Stumbles 98
Yesterdays Rock 29

YR’s two-game win streak came to an end as they were thrashed by the Fumbles. Tony Romo (18-29 for 309 yards and 2 TD’s) led all scorers with 20 points to keep their slim Championship playoff hopes alive. YR’s had no players with more than 6 points.

Flash 80 96
Polarbear Express 62

The Express dropped their second straight against Flash 80 and damaged their chances to win the regular season title. Tight End Antonio Gates led all scorers with 23 points (7 catches for 118 yards and 2 TD’s). Flash 80 moved to .500 and within two games of a Championship playoff spot.

Strange Agents 135
RRN Maulerz 77

Strange Agents scored the highest point total of the week, as they shellacked the Maulerz. Eight of nine players scored in double figures, including Aaron Rogers (28-39 for 348 yards and 3 TD’s, 23 points), Donald Driver (7 catches for 142 yards and 1 TD, 20 points) and Percy Harvin (6 catches for 101 yards and 1 TD, 20 points).
